Our Rights as a People

The bill of rights was designed to prevent abuse of the power of the Constitution, and to prevent people from misconstruing it. And so, here they are. And now there are those who would like to stop free, peaceful speech, and also make the government favor or hate different religions. Like: defend Muslims, and hate Christians, or just be indifferent to one and love the other. Jews and Israelis also feel disdain from different members of the government. There are those, who have the right to both bear and NOT bear arms, who would have us give up our best method of self-defense and our tools. Look. Our right to bear arms is being infringed upon way too much as it is, what with different states requiring permits, being a certain age, and just what we can and cannot have. Taking away AR-15s would be taking away my husband's hunting rifle, and the rifle he carries on the property to defend himself from coyotes, mad hogs, snakes, and other dangerous animals. And you would be takin

Vlog Channel Contest

Image
So. I am going to be starting a vlog. Every weekend, I'll be posting a fairly long video, on YouTube, about what's been going on in my life. However.... The channel needs a name (I didn't want to just use Transplanted In Texas). And therefore I am announcing a vlog-channel naming contest! The prize is TBD (sorry). This channel will be featuring things like.... Yance's milestones (he turned 11 months old and was weaned two Thursdays ago!) Major events along our financial journey to getting debt free (we aim to be out of debt by July 4) Horse training and riding (Dingus!) And other things that happen with a young family on a cattle ranch The contest ends February 24. My husband is also going to start a vlog about his shooting and guns and holsters and that kind of thing, and I will keep you updated on that. The camcorders arrive today! And on March 1, if everything goes as planned, I will begin training Dingus. Yance turns one year old on March

Mothers and Body Image

Image
Last week I got the idea to write up a post about my thoughts and body image in mothers. Before I got pregnant, I had fleeting thoughts that I might be a bit overweight, but at 105 pounds with no flab, those ideas were caused by youthful fantasies and stomach rolls caused by bending over. A lot of girls at my height and age can be lighter than 105, but they're also smaller boned and less muscular. But I didn't fret over it, because I knew I didn't need to lose weight. Anyway. I was a little disheartened to see the numbers on the scale go up every time I met the midwife, but I knew it was good. In the end, I gained 25 pounds, though 10 quickly came off. I am around 120 now, and I plan to get down to 110. There is no way I'll be back to 105, at least, not and be healthy. My body has been changed, and I don't expect it to be the perfect thing it was before Yance came along. That's a big thing, I think. Some women aren't happy with their post

A.P. Indy: A horse, a legend, a book

Image
Well, my biography (of sorts) of the champion stallion A.P. Indy, a Thoroughbred horse who is officially 29 this year, has been edited, the cover redone, and it is on Kindle. And it is also available on MatchBook. MatchBook? Well... according to Amazon.... " Buy the new print book first and then buy the Kindle book for $2.99 or less. (Textbooks available for $9.99 or less.) " https://www.amazon.com/gp/digital/ep-landing-page/ref=k_mtchbk_eb_f On Kindle, the book is $7.52.  https://www.amazon.com/P-Indy-Rebecca-Baker-ebook/dp/B079CRB32N/ref=tmm_kin_swatch_0?_encoding=UTF8&qid=1512062137&sr=8-1 In paperback, it is $13.86.  https://www.amazon.com/P-Indy-Rebecca-Baker/dp/197610405X/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1512062137&sr=8-1&keywords=a.p.+indy And buying the two together with MatchBook, it would cost you $16.85, instead of $21.38. Great deal, wouldn't you say? Here is the new cover for the book! Amazon has not completely updated their st
