Thanksgiving

Monday's ride Tomorrow Thanksgiving begins. And that means that I get my D for 4 straight days!!! It also means we're surrounded by family until Sunday night, so that's a negative, I guess, since I'm an introvert and don't like being surrounded by people. Thanksgiving Day means Thanksgiving celebrations with the local in-laws, aka Ma, Boss, and D's parents, sister, aunt, uncle, and cousins. And then Friday morning we are loading up with his sister and her boyfriend and hauling off on a long, nearly 5 hour drive to the other side of the family's place. Then.... we spend the night there, and Saturday have Thanksgiving with them. My family is coming out for that, too, so yay! I think. Honestly right now my head is just swimming thinking of all those people! Saturday night will be spent there and then Sunday who knows what'll happen as we drive around DFW. Finally, that night we get to come home, and we don't even get a break before D heads back

Fall Reenactment #2

Reenacting... Photo credit LowellandShasta Stagner, Facebook Tonight, my husband and I will be on a 3 1/2 hour drive to our next reenactment. And then we'll set up sleeping arrangements (hopefully it'll be nicer than at our last one in terms of PADDING), after of course finding our friends. Cookie will be staying behind with his buddies this time, so it's just me and my D going out. We will be back on Sunday, and Wednesday, due to lack of internet until then, I win NanoWrimo. I will only have 1 day next week to work on my book <gasp>, which is over 80,000 words already: Thursday is Thanksgiving Day, and then Friday we head out to see my mother-in-law's family, where we will be on Saturday and then in Dallas/Fort Worth on Sunday before coming back. I am excited, although once again my husband is in the band playing the ball, and I am stranded on the sidelines watching unless he gets a break to dance with me. This time, unlike last time, my sister-in-law wi

Breeders' Cup World Championships 2016 The Breeders' Cup World Championships was a ride. I watched all thirteen of the races, four times getting the exacta, and another time getting the winner. In all, I had fourteen in-the-money finishes, spread across nine races. I struck out completely in four races. While I didn't bet, I'm going to act like I bet across-the-board on all 39 of my picks OR to show, giving you prices on how much I would've spent and how much I would've gotten back for either option. Headed out on Day 1 to see the races The Juvenile Turf was the first race on Friday. I didn't expect my C pick, Oscar Performance, to do as well as he did in a race predominately won by Europeans. But when my B pick, Lancaster Bomber, and A pick, Intelligence Cross, sat back in the field and Oscar Performance stalked the early lead on the speed-favoring Santa Anita turf course, it was all over for the others. Wellabled set the early pace, setting qu

The Breeders' Cup World Championships will be held on Nov 4-5 this year at Santa Anita Park, in a suburb of Los Angeles, California. The entries have been drawn and post positions assigned, and today I will show you my top three picks for each race, for the championships begin tomorrow. On October 4, I made a post of my pre-picks, which were basically my picks to win at that time for these races. Some of my picks here differ from those, and explanations as to why will be given. These races are displayed with their Central time zone post time, race distance and surface, age and sex restrictions, and purse in millions. If all the horses carry equal weights, the weight is also listed with the race description, as well as the medication each horse has if they have the same medication. They are displayed in the order that they will be run, and the entire field is shown. The horses will be listed with age (if it is not a 2yo-only race), sex, morning line odds, medication if it dif
