He's Here!!!

Image
He is a chestnut or palomino tobiano colt, born late Sunday, July 24, and these photos were taken July 25, after he was discovered. This colt is not yet named, but we are working through lists of suggestions people are giving us. The little foal is well-built and shows promise. He's got his sire's solid hindquarters and his dam's large ears, plus his pinto coloring comes from his mother's side of the family. We won't know for certain whether he is a chestnut or palomino until December, at the latest, and so we won't be registering him until we know, and his sire's owner transfers Sneaky into his own name. They've had him for 9 1/2 years and still the 10yo horse is listed in his breeder's name on his paperwork. None of the QH's foals will be registerable until that paperwork is completed. The colt is by Sneaky Peponita, who descends from Peponita himself on sireline, and out of Wind Runner, a 3rd or 4th generation Baker mare, unregistered and

I have been doing absolutely nothing for the past week. There isn't much to do here, and my dear D is gone pretty much all day at work making a living to support us. So I am usually quite bored. Solitaire has been my latest escape, and I have learned the ins and outs so well that I've gone from a 45% win rate to a 55% win rate in 2 weeks and have played several hundred games. I gasp just looking at the last sentence I wrote! The weekend is ahead, though, and we are going to get electricity soon at our house, so hopefully by next weekend we can move back over there. Last I heard, the crazy palomino pinto mare has not yet foaled. Between that and the Republican National Convention being this week, I am kinda willing to tear my hair out. Okay, I am not an American citizen, so I can't vote. I do have my green card, though, which by the way makes name changing a pain in the rear after getting married. I'm a Canadian citizen, born and bred, but soon I should be trying to g

Horse Update

So I'm a little behind on blog posts. That's what happens when there's no internet where I'm at. That should change in a day or two. But I have pictures of the horses! Windy still hasn't foaled, though. Grrr... She is getting a lot closer though. However, it could be up to two more weeks, which will feel like an eternity. Odo has been tackling the ants over his food, but is fine. Something did bite him on the leg the other day and we also found him in the house, which is only explained by him jumping through an open window. That was closed and a screened window was opened once we got him out. Crazy kitty. Sneaky--he's put on some weight since this photo was taken last week Everybody is fine. Maybe a little plagued by flies, but in good shape, if not fat. Sneaky hasn't been worked with since the accident, but I am giving him some human interaction so he doesn't get rusty on that. Hopefully I can resume with him soon. If not, oh well. I won'

I Miss The Horses

Image
All right. So I've been living at my in-law's since the accident. There are no horses here. Just cows. My home is four (unbelievably long) miles away, but I am not there very often anymore. Me and Sue Windy still hasn't foaled (last checked her last night, not in early labor or anything close....). Odo, the cat, is missing us a lot, and when we stopped by yesterday he was meowing and begging for attention. He has a fantastic food supply right now since his feed bag is pretty much a free-choice meal right now between him and the barn ants (which are annoying). Odo and his mama (hint, she's white, and so is he...) and his adoptive mother and siblings the day he was born I really miss the horses. I can't just walk outside and pet one, or have a conversation (they're usually one-sided...) with one, or look out the window and watch them graze or their funny antics. I hope this weekend I will spend many hours with them, though I can't do anything yet
