First, a photo from our weekend out of the house. This week, I decided to give you an update on the horses I put on my watchlist that did go through the ring at Keeneland in November 2016. In hip order, here they are. Madame Giry (in foal to Honor Code) - foal due April/May 2017 - 2016 foal born Apr 18. RNA’d so probably still in T.F. VanMeter & Brian Kahn ownership in KY. Will know more once foal is born. My Conquestadory (in foal to Tapit) - foal due any day - 2016 foal (shown below) born Feb 23. Sold to SF Bloodstock & Newgate Farm, no doubt is still in KY awaiting the birth of the foal. Promise Me Silver - no news on who she was booked to, but no doubt resides at an Adena Springs farm, probably Kentucky. ‘16 Sacred Forest - still unnamed, might be a pinhook, might not be. Nothing known at the moment. She’s Not Here - still in the U.S., probably bred to any one of these: Exaggerator, Flintshire, Daredevil, California Chrome. ‘16 Summer Soiree

First Anniversary - Reflections

In two days, my beloved and I are going to celebrate our first wedding anniversary. It’s been a busy, eventful year. The adventure began two years ago, when we both were hauled to a “mini-shindig”, put on by homeschooling families to let like-minded people meet and enjoy each others’ company. Neither of us were looking for prospective spouses. But by the grace of God, and some meddling by D’s father, we met and hit it off so well that it wasn’t long before we were in a budding friendship. Unfortunately, neither of us had bothered to ask for contact info before parting ways, so I was certain we’d never meet again, or at least it would be a very long time before we saw each other. That deflated the moment. But, a couple weeks later, he, his sister, and his father came out for a party I was throwing. At the “mini-shindig”, he had been the first person to get me to actually enjoy dancing, and at this party he showed me the ropes of volleyball - and was the first person to get me to d

Motherhood - First Impressions

I've watched chicks hatch and numerous animals be born - kittens, piglets, and kids. But until I delivered my own baby boy, I didn't appreciate the miracle of pregnancy and childbirth to its fullest. Yancey Lane (or Yance, as his nickname is) has provided both myself and his father some of the joys and trials parenthood can bring, in just one week of life. Seeing my nearly eight-pound boy for the first time was amazing. Until that moment, I had no idea what a joy a baby could be. Anyone who really knows me also knows how much I enjoy being around little children. I don't enjoy it, to say the least. Ever since I can remember, I've been one to hang out with the older guys and girls and avoid anyone younger or less mature than I. One can wonder how any of my siblings got along with me, seeing as they're all younger than I. My sweet husband loves to hold and talk to his son, and I, in turn, love to watch him do so. I expected to want to hold my baby all th

New Week, New Things

Present collection! Dryer (and me) Cake (no, we didn't eat all that in one sitting) So... For my birthday, I baked a cake, got a pie, and also some other things. My parents in law brought me a Breyer model horse set - the Classic size Black Caviar & Foal. Tana sent me some baby clothes (a onesie and footed pants to match), and my sweet hubby got me movies and ammo for my rifle. It was great. Dryer - in place and ready to go! We ate pizza for supper and drank A&W root beer, before cake and ice cream. And we watched the new Mechanic movie, too. Washing machine Last weekend, D got the dryer installed, and his future brother-in-law wired everything in for it to work. And then on Monday, D got the rest of the necessary pieces to make sure it and the washing machine ran without problems (one of those things being a dryer hose-vent without holes everywhere in it). Then the washing machine was hooked up, and tada! we have a working washing machine AND a work
