What is it with March?

Image
March has lately been a pretty special month for me. Not that it never was, I mean, my birthday is in March, after all. But in March 2015, I met the love of my life. In March 2016, 2 days short of exactly one year later, I married him. And in March 2017, our first child will be born. Yes, you read that right. We are having a baby! We won't be finding out what it is until it is born, if we can help it. We have a midwife for the birth of this baby. My initial appointment was yesterday, and I must say I really like this woman! She is really easy to relax around, and despite being a relative newbie to the midwife environment, she is a 10-out-of-10 to me. So far, the baby is normal (and apparently good at hiding and kicking), and I am doing just fine. D is very excited about being a father, and he will be an awesome one! He's already getting the baby gifts, which makes me laugh. We are hoping for a boy, but of course a girl would be awesome. Either way, it wil

Progress

So last weekend we had ourselves a bunch of people over and got lots of progress on the house done. I don't have pictures right now, but by the next blog post I will. :) But, we now have electricity in the kitchen, living room, and all the plugs work in our bedroom and bathroom. An AC unit is in the proper window in the living room, cooling the house down nicely. Somehow we managed to feed everybody, and that was awesome. I had lots of girls helping me out, between a 2nd-cousin-in-law, my sister, sister-in-law, and another friend. KitMarie finally made it out after getting lost 3 times on the way, late Saturday afternoon. She stayed over until Sunday evening. We were given housewarming gifts, and tried (and failed) to make ice cream. We did, however, successfully use our popcorn maker! That was awesome. Of course, the weekend was over way too soon, and my dear D had to go back to work, but not before the walls were finished in our bedroom and now we even have doors on it! Y

The colt’s name, ladies and gentlemen, is Dingus. He is named after the famous (or infamous) Jesse James, whose little-known nickname was Dingus. His name was made official on Sunday, the 7 th . He has begun his halter-breaking as of the 10 th , and it began with a bit of overreacting from him, but he figured out that he couldn’t get away and stopped freaking out. When that happened, Session #1 was over. Session #2 was today, and he was much easier to catch, halter, and I did even get him to be led a bit some, without all the overboard thrashing around he did on Wednesday. I then left the halter on him while I went and rode my horse, Sue, for the first time in a couple months. That was also my first ride since I came off Sneaky. Sue was pretty easy, for her buddy, Mandy, hasn’t been turned out with her in so long that she no longer freaks out about leaving her or anybody else behind. And I was riding bareback with just a rope halter and lead rope! When that was done, I foun

Last weekend, D and I were at the local gun show. It was depressing. We did make enough to pay for the table and the food we ate but all of the business came from the local Sons of Confederate Veterans camp, which my dear D is apart of and had a booth set up in the same area of the Civic Center as us! Despite all the frustration, it actually managed to be slightly better than the Memorial Day weekend gun show at the same place. The colt is still unnamed but mostly because nobody is actually in a real rush to name him. We have plenty of name options, so we do not have a shortage of those! Hungry little baby! My family is coming down tomorrow for the day, so we won't have a completely boring weekend, though that would almost be nice. Last weekend, with its early rising just like during the work week, got to me and I will appreciate the ability to sleep in this weekend. The horses are fat and happy, just grazing all that good grass out there. I will, as soon as I can, get
