We Have A Wood Stove!

Well. It's Friday again. And that means it's time for another blog post.

This week, we got to experience life with a wood stove in our house for the very first time. Over the weekend, the installing process was finally finished (thank you, Daddy and D!), and it made its debut on Sunday evening.

And I like it.

We will be getting a screen to put around it so Yance doesn't burn himself on it, but other than that we're done. And he's been good about avoiding it.

My family had a wood stove for the last several years of my life with them, so I am used to life with them. And I prefer them over other methods of heating because they're generally cheaper. And besides, there's nothing like the sight of a warm fire on a cold day.

The horses have a suitable winter coat, and I chopped off our stallion's tail because it was basically a log of hair. It looks funny now being really short, but it's a lot cleaner! Just so you know, it's a bad idea to not take care of your hair for eleven years. Just bad. Lol!

Anyone want an eleven year old quarter horse? We're going to sell Sneaky.

This week we're going through stuff deciding what to keep, what to store, and what to sell or throw out. Because we're thinking of having a mid-January yard sale, providing the weather allows it!

We have almost all of our Christmas presents in, but there are a couple that are taking their sweet time getting here. Next year I'm starting the shopping in June so we don't have to worry about anything but wrapping next fall.

At the rate Yance is going, he will be weaned by the end of February! Half his meals are now solid, and only breakfast and supper are spent nursing. He will eat ANYTHING. We don't let him eat most of the stuff he finds though. Usually it's bark, dirt, plastic, alfalfa, random stuff that we didn't notice was on the floor. Once in a while it's a cracker he dropped.

His meals consist of crackers and applesauce, along with bread, cheese, meat, and other things depending on the day. Quesadillas are also on that list. Not beans or sweets though. That'll be a while.

And we probably should order replacement nipples for his Nuby cup.

Don't forget to check out my book, A.P. Indy!

It will be available in February 2018 on Kindle, but a paper copy is available on Amazon AND at Barnes & Noble right now!
