Stormy Weather
Monday wasn't too bad. It started out cool, and the house only slowly warmed up as temperatures rose to the high 70s. It was mid-evening when it was finally warm, but not too warm. The house cooled off again that night, enough to sleep pretty comfortably.
Tuesday was terrible, at least for the first part of the day. Everything warmed up quickly, affecting both my own mood and Yance's. A hot, miserable baby does not eat much or stay very calm. The same can be said for his mother. Finally, we were picked up by D's cousin and went to her place, where Yance was held by cousins and got cooled off in front of a fan. His grandmother was there as well, and that evening picked up a generator and set it up at our place. The deep-freeze and bedroom air conditioner were plugged in and set up, allowing us to sleep comfortably.
Wednesday was spent at the shop, where D's work is based out of. I discovered that I do not enjoy in-town driving, but Sonic blasts and strawberry limeades are awesome!
Yance also got a meal dropped, with his final meal being an hour earlier in the day and getting five meals instead of four. The adjustment took no effort whatsoever, with his already extended wake-times, and he has slept soundly both nights since the adjustment so far.
Thursday and Friday were spent at Ma's place. They had electricity, while our downed lines had not yet been dealt with. D and I got showers, our first in almost a week, and on Friday Yance got a sponge bath. Needless to say, D's grandmother enjoyed our presence immensely!
Friday afternoon, power was restored. We spent the evening cleaning and watching Star Wars: The Phantom Menace, which we had set out to do Sunday evening before the blackout interrupted us. Tonight we are enjoying our electricity.
Despite the heat, the discomfort, and the sheer annoyance of our combined coughing, the weekend snuck up on us. Tomorrow will be spent working around the house and ranch - and Sunday afternoon my best friend comes over for a few days! She is living in my old hometown for the summer, which is a lot closer to here than where her college is, and now we get to enjoy hanging out before she goes back to Lubbock in August or September. We'll play with horses and tour the ranch, and Yance may get to hang out with Ma by himself for a few hours.
Today I would like to recommend another book we are using to help raise our son, and has been used by my parents. We have met the authors and enjoy many other books they have written. Again, this one has many reviews on both ends of the spectrum.
I love my man and my son. D and I look forward to growing old together and raising a lovely family.
